This project provides legal and mental health support for victims of forced marriages. Forced marriage remains an overlooked problem in Hong Kong. Victims are usually Hong Kong permanent residents from the Ethnic Minority community, whose families pressured them into marrying a family relative on a family trip to their country of origin. There are multiple knowledge and social barriers prohibiting the victims from seeking help. Hong Kong Dignity Institute provides interdisciplinary solutions for the victims, through integrated legal and psychosocial support. By streamlining the process of seeking redress, they avoid unnecessary re-traumatisation. |
